Japan quake is costliest disaster ever in the World

TOKYO (Reuters) - The Japanese government on Wednesday estimated the direct damage from a deadly earthquake and tsunami that struck the country's northeast this month at as much as $310 billion, making it the world's costliest natural disaster.
The first official damage estimates will serve to map out disaster relief plans and emergency budgets to fund recovery costs.
Tokyo said the estimate covered damage to roads, homes, factories and other infrastructure, and eclipses the losses incurred by other natural disasters such as the 1995 Kobe quake and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Wipro's CEO gets Rs 10cr salary package record in IT Industry

Mumbai, Mar 21 (PTI) T K Kurien, the new chief of the IT business and CEO of Wipro, will get an annual salary package of up to Rs 10 crore .

As per the terms of appointment of Kurien, salary is in the range of minimum of Rs 3 crore to a maximum of Rs 10 crore a year, Wipro said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

This would include periodic increments, variable pay (based on performance criteria), leave travel allowance, house rent allowance, company provided car and driver, furniture and equipment and provident fund among others.

Kurien''s is one of the highest salary packages in the IT industry.

According to TCS'' Annual Report 2009-10, company CEO and Managing Director S Ramadorai received Rs 3.61 crore in salary, benefits and perks and commission for the period between April 1, 2009 and October 5, 2009.

Indians ready to relocate for good paid jobs

As many as nine out of ten Indian employees surveyed are willing to move out for the right job, with people even ready to relocate to another country or continent, according to Kelly Services.

A survey by workforce solutions provider Kelly Services revealed that 89 per cent of Indian employees were willing to move out for the right job.

Of them, 49 per cent were prepared to relocate to another country or continent to get the job of their choice. About 39 per cent of the respondents were ready to move within the country, the survey, released today, said.

As per the findings, men are more willing to move out than women.

India's mobile subscribers at 77 Crores now

New Delhi: The number of mobile subscribers in the country touched the 771.18 million figure by January end, with the addition of 18.99 million connections in the month, official data shows.
According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the wireless user base grew 2.52 per cent to 771.18 million in January from 752.19 million in the previous month.
The report said that while the share of urban subscribers declined to 66.42 per cent from 66.65 per cent in the month, the share of rural subscribers increased from 33.35 per cent to 33.58.
With this, the total number of telephone subscriber base touched 806.13 million, registering a growth of 2.39 per cent.
